Following the end of the 2010 season, long-time United striker Jamie Moreno retired from professional soccer. Olsen would ultimately assume full-time managerial duties ahead of the 2011 season, where he kept Ashton on the coaching staff, but dismissed Kelderman from his staff. Olsen brought in recently retired goalkeeper and former Canadian international, Pat Onstad, on to his coaching staff, along with former Dutch international, women soccer jerseys Sonny Silooy. Throughout Olsen’s tenure, he employed a defensive style of play, followed by a diamond 4-4-2 formation focused on counter-attacking soccer.
